When a tornado signal is sounded or when it is obvious that a tornado is approaching, all employees, students, and visitors should take cover. The best sources of cover or shelter are found on the lowest level of the building, in an inside hallway away from windows, and under desks or other sturdy furniture. Avoid auditoriums and other spaces with wide, free-span roofs. Doors should be closed but not locked. Lights and all electrical equipment should be turned off. If caught outside, move away from the approaching tornado at right angles if possible. If it is near, immediately lie flat on the ground with your head covered. If a ditch, culvert, or depression is near, lie in this low area.
If time and weather conditions allow take shelter in the basement of the Activity Center.
