Advisory Council Meetings
The Advisory Council comprises individuals representing a cross section of business and industry who are dedicated to keeping technical education informed of industry’s requirements. The Advisory Council, composed of each program’s advisory committee, makes recommendations to the college regarding industry standards and expectations, curriculum, technical requirements, and assessment benchmarks. The typical Advisory Council Agenda is below. Each academic department should have a representative at the Advisory Council Meeting between 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. to greet your advisors. The Advisory Committee Meetings start at 10:00 a.m. and will either break for lunch at 12:30 p.m. or adjourn at 12:30 p.m. Reservations for lunch are still required prior to the meeting.

Some departments will have an assigned staff person to take the general committee minutes. Please work with this person to ensure that the information is accurately placed on the overview form. Those committees that do not have an assigned staff person will need to type their own general minutes and overview form. Minutes are to be completed for each program and submitted two weeks after the advisory committee meeting.
Remember to get Advisory Committee input on TSA results and equipment purchases they recommend to improve them.
Blank name badges for advisors will be placed in the department mailbox before the advisory committee meeting.
A Purchase Order shall be requested in advance for any of the following advisory council related expenses:
- Snacks, beverages, coffee/pastries from the cafeteria delivered to your meeting location
- Lunches for advisory council meetings scheduled on days other than the main advisory council days (see attached schedule)
- Any other food or supplies purchased from outside vendors (Thriftway, BJ's, Wal-Mart, etc.)
If you are planning to order refreshments from the cafeteria, please email firstname.lastname@example.org your order no later than a week prior to the meeting.
